China Ends USA’s 40-Year Streak, Wins Gold in Men’s 4x100m Medley Relay

China’s men’s 4x100m medley relay team made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning the gold medal and ending the USA’s 40-year dominance in this event. The American team had been on a 10-Olympic winning streak in the medley relay, but China’s swimmers delivered an extraordinary performance to claim victory.

The Chinese team, featuring Xu Jiayu, Qin Haiyang, Sun Jiajun, and Pan Zhanle, finished the race in 3:27.46, outpacing the USA, who came in second with a time of 3:28.01. France secured the bronze with a time of 3:28.38.

This victory is a monumental achievement for China, breaking the USA’s four-decade monopoly on the men’s 4x100m medley relay. The race is sure to be remembered as one of the most significant moments in Olympic swimming history.
